My wife just received thyroid test results from her gynecologist. We would like a second opinion on the results below. She is currently 18 weeks pregnant. TSH 0.01 T4 16.2 T3 Uptake 20 T3 Free 4.3 Please advise if these results can be due to normal pregnancy hormonal inbalance?
The Thyroid function tests results show a state of hyperthyroidism in your wife. In my opinion, these results are less likely to be due to normal pregnancy related hormonal imbalance. However, it is advisable to get a thorough physical examination done by your physician to estimate the extent of symptoms present. It is suggested that she starts her anti-thyroid medication at the earliest. Hope this answer helped. Dr Kashyap P Lanka
